Oval Space x Different Circles: Mumdance Shared Meanings Launch
On November 23rd Oval Space and Different Circles celebrate the release of Mumdance’s ‘Shared Meanings’ mix and accompanying compilation; 32 100% unreleased & exclusive tracks released on digital, vinyl and cassette. It's the natural next step from Radio Mumdance, his 2017 radio project that saw Adams play back-to-back with some of his favourite artists: Nina Kraviz, DJ Stingray, Surgeon, Ben UFO, Josey Rebelle and many others. This breadth of taste is the foundation for the stellar line-up he’s curated for his debut party here at Oval Space.
Speedy J is one of the most important European figures to grace the world of techno. Taking cues first from ‘alien music’ imported from Chicago and Detroit into his hometown of Rotterdam, Jochem Paap went on to release some of the most defining records of the 1990s on the likes of Plus 8, Novamute and Warp.
Dopplereffekt return to Oval Space for another of their unmissable live sets. The brainchild of Drexciya’s Gerald Donald, the project is shrouded in an otherworldly feel both aesthetically and in the futuristic music created by the duo’s mastery of analogue hardware.
B2B’s don’t get much more legendary than between DJ Storm and Doc Scott. Two foundational figures of DnB (Storm a founding figure of Metalheadz and Doc Scott a producer attributed with bridging the gap between hardcore and early drum and bass) going hammer and tong – you’d be hard pressed on find a better way of closing up a rave.
As if that wasn’t already enough, PAN / Hyperdub’s Lee Gamble presents his experimental, non-linear DJ style. It’s a perfect fit with the show’s ethos – to quote RA, his set are ‘not so much a journey as a stumble through a hall of mirrors’.
All of this, plus Mumdance and his partner-in-crime Logos bridging the gaps these electronic music luminaries. We’re in for a very special night.
