Dimensions Festival: Sounds Of The Fort

Dimensions Festival can be proud of many things; quality and varied line-ups year on year, chest-shaking soundsystems, and legendary boat parties being just a few. However, one thing that distinguishes Dimensions from it's peers more than anything else is it's stages. With many housed in Fort Punta Christo, a 19th century hill-top citadel that until recently was totally abandoned, unique settings abound, providing each stage with it's own atmosphere and accompanying sound. Fresh off the heels of a second line-up announcement, we caught up with Dimensions Soundsystem, tasking them with selecting just one track to summarise the vibe of each of their beloved stages.

The Amphitheater

One of the largest Roman amphitheatres in existence, Dimensions offers festival attendees a chance to party in one of the most surreal and beautiful places in the world. An experience not to be missed.

Kraftwerk - Trans-Europe Express

It just had to be...

The Clearing

As you make your way towards the Fort from the beach and campsite, The Clearing opens out in front of you, replete with huge stacks of lights, speakers and particularly impressive stage visuals. The main festival stage, many of the headline live shows hold court here.

Mr. Fingers - Closer

Larry's return back in 2016 was such a special moment for us; to see him take the stage with us after 20 years away from performing live. If you were there, you'll know.

The Moat

Dimensions quintessential stage. 80ft high, 18th century walls tower over you as swathes of bass swallows you whole. You haven't experienced electronic music like this before.

The Exaltics - 0998.0989.12

Our haven of techno & electro...buckle up!

The Void

Home to the monstrous Void sound system, this versatile arena plays host to a range of sounds from the dark and electronic to soulful and sublime.

Levon Vincent - Six Figures

In 2017, Levon in the Void was a real highlight. This gem is a Dimensions Soundsystem favourite.

The Garden

Home to some of the boldest sounds at the festival, the garden is always the place to let loose and dance the night away to the sounds and selections of some of this years finest DJ's.

Theo Parrish - Gullah Geechee

Theo Parrish was the first person to take over the newly designed and expanded stage for a whole night back in 2017 - here's his new release.

The Stables

From beats to basslines; the Stable walls shelter from all other sounds and encase you in the meandering melodies of the musical marvels in which it houses.

The Lower East Side Pipes - Disorganized Corruption

Joe Claussell doing his thing.

Mungo's Arena

The mighty Mungo's stacks take no prisoners, if the darker realm of electronic music is your bag, then this is the venue for you. Host each year to drum and bass, dubstep, breakbeat and more, meditate on bass-weight at Dimensions.

Muslimgauze - Untitled 8

This was a tough one to call, as the arena is always the host to so much good and varied music, but Simon Scott's (Dimensions Soundsystem) Muslimgauze set last year was a real highlight.

The Beach

Relax by day along the Croatian coast, listening to the sounds of some of the boldest rising talents and established stars spanning jazz, soul, funk, house and more.

Kerem Akdag - When I Think of You

Kerem's returning to Pula to play this year following his debut in 2017. His album is also just about to drop on Dimensions Recordings.

Arija

One of the most intimate stages, Arija is the first stage you encounter as you enter Fort Punta Christo. Don't let it's size fool you though - it packs a punch much larger than it's capacity would suggest.

Cuisine Dub - Bagatela:

This is stage that usually sees us host a wealth of Croatian talent - Cuisine Dub represents that so well.

Noah's Ballroom

Named after one of the festivals founding fathers, Noah's Ballroom is Dimensions hidden gem, tucked away in the turret of one of the Fort's outer walls. Things can get very intense with a capacity of just 60 people!

Adrian Rodd - Since 1990 (Jonas Kopp Remix)

We welcome Dimensions to Oval Space on 14th April, for the London leg of their International Series. With a line-up befitting the occasion, this is one not to be missed. Tickets are currently a snip at £10, and won't hang around for long.
